SGP hosts its annual meeting and symposium at the Marine Biological Laboratory every September. The meetings are organized by experts in their fields, and always enlist speakers highly regarded in their areas of expertise, often world-renowned.

Our meetings offer a unique opportunity for physiologists at all stages of their careers to interact and discuss science in a very intimate atmosphere. With typically not more than 200 participants, SGP symposia are small enough to foster maximal discussion and interaction.

The symposia include talks on the year’s topic, complemented by an average of 60 - 70 poster presentations on all topics of physiology. The abstract deadline is August 15, but abstracts received by the May 15th deadline are published in the July issue of The Journal of General Physiology. In addition, young scientists who have exhibited excellence in their field of study may be asked to make brief award presentations.

Students and postdocs are encouraged to enter the Poster Competition, which awards $500 prizes to the best posters. If you are interested in applying to compete in the poster competition, please complete an application by May 15.
